Introducing Volntir: Digital Waivers and Volunteer Management for Nonprofits

If you've ever run a nonprofit event, you know the paperwork problem. Liability waivers printed on a home printer. A sign-in sheet that gets knocked off the table. Volunteers who swear they signed — but there's no record. And at the end of the day, you're left hoping nothing goes wrong and that your documentation holds up if it does.
I serve as VP of the Iron County Trail Club, City Commissioner for Caspian, and Patrol Director at Ski Brule. I kept running into the same friction across all of these roles. So I did what I do: I built something.
What Is Volntir?
Volntir is a digital waiver and volunteer management platform built for nonprofit organizations — community groups, trail clubs, race organizations, youth programs, festivals, and any org that runs events, manages volunteers, and needs liability documentation done right.
The core features:
Digital Waivers Participants sign waivers on their own device — no clipboards, no paper, no "I already signed last year." Every signature is timestamped, stored, and searchable. Email confirmation goes out automatically.
Family Member Coverage One signer can cover their whole family in a single flow. Useful for youth programs and family-oriented events.
Volunteer Shift Management Org admins can create events, define volunteer shifts and time slots, and let volunteers self-sign-up. Built-in waitlisting handles over-subscribed shifts automatically.
Volunteer Time Tracking Volunteers can clock in and out digitally. Admins get a clean view of hours logged, pending approvals, and a full audit trail — useful for grant reporting and recognition.
Organization Dashboard Everything in one place: waivers signed, volunteers scheduled, hours logged, and check-in status for any event.
Why I Built It This Way
There are existing waiver tools out there. Most are either generic form builders with no volunteer management, or enterprise HR platforms — far too heavy and expensive for a lean nonprofit with a part-time coordinator.
I wanted something purpose-built for the kind of organizations I'm part of: mission-driven, volunteer-powered groups where the admin is also the person out doing the work.
The tech stack is Next.js, deployed on Vercel, with a Neon Postgres database. It's built for reliability and designed to work on a phone with spotty cell service.
It's in Beta — and I Want Your Feedback
Volntir is currently in beta. I'm inviting nonprofit organizations of all kinds to try it out — community groups, trail associations, youth sports leagues, festivals, and more.
If your org collects waivers or coordinates volunteers, I'd love to hear how Volntir fits — or doesn't fit — your workflow.
